We are the culmination of those learnings we receive

I love this verse, compiled some 1500 years ago in Sanskrit. It explains the importance of, and pays sincere salutations to the ‘Guru’ (the Sanskrit word for a teacher).

गुरुर्ब्रह्मा गुरुर्विष्णु र्गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः

गुरु साक्षात परब्रह्मा तस्मै श्रीगुरवे नमः॥१॥

Almost everyone we meet in our lives teaches us a thing or two. But we all have those handful people in our lives, who enriched us so much as to shape us and make us who we are today. For a lack of a better explanation, I consider it my sheer luck and honour to have had these wonderful ‘Gurus’ at those particular junctures of my life – and so, my sincere salutations.
