Over the years, cycling has evolved into many dimensions and forms. BMX, Cyclocross, Mountain, Tandem, Track, Road (or Touring), Track and what not. For the sake of simplicity, I will be only referring to ‘touring’ (road bikes or tour). In the part of the world where I live, a bicycle is usually called bike. So, please don’t get confused if I used that word.

Most of us take cycling for granted. But if we really think about it, perhaps it’s one of the most game changing inventions man has ever made – converting chemical energy into mechanical (or kinetic)
.
It's not just 2 wheels, a handle and a seat. It's like mediation, on the wheels. Meditation that teaches you focus, trains you to stay strong and destress your soul. You'll also see so much of this beautiful world that you probably otherwise wouldn't see. Did I mention that all this comes at one of the lowest carbon footprints?

All you need is a bicycle, what else…? Well, don’t do this please. From kids bike to e-bike, there are lot of options available in the market. I will primarily focus on road/tour bikes that are optimal for 40-100 kms ride in one go.

But, first things first. Some of the most basics I see people neglect (and therefore pay the price) are the basics (i.e. decent bike, safe roads and weather). Other absolutely basic precautions like helmet, emergency contact etc. need no mentioning.
.
Once we are into this… there’s a long list of equipment like which helmet reduces air resistance, how much to oil, how often to oil, how to clean, when to clean, which gear set and which frame, what size of wheel, what weight of bike to pick, tracking performance and how to log performance etc… let’s park them for later, shall we..?

For those who wrote me: I tried Bianchi Oltre and Carbondale EVO. At the moment, I use Cube GTC 28".

In the last decade, the number of superb cyclists has exploded. However, I think we should not forget these legends who actually set the example:

Lael Wilcox: The lady who rides 32,000 a year on her bike. She basically lives bike

Summer is almost over in the norther hemisphere and so the most important events of road cycling. I'll update this page early december with 2020 dates.
