Enjoy my collection
We all have seen those pictures that made us stop, take a moment, and admire the beauty and meaning in it.
.
Well, taking such nice pictures is easy. Especially with today’s technology and how affordable it has become, it’s really easy. The only catch… you need to understand few basics on how a camera works. Not all of it, but just 3 parts of the camera, for a start.
Understanding these three parts (in red) is the only hurdle that stops many people from becoming an awesome photographer.
.
Aperture: Basically the size of the hole through which the light rays pass. The bigger the aperture, more light that comes in
.
Exposure: How long you want to absorb the light. The more the exposure, merrier the details
.
ISO: How much of the light intensity should the sensor absorb. The more the ISO, more the intensity of light in your picture
.
Most, if not all cameras today (including mobiles) have options to manually control these three parameters. Try them, play and practise… just a matter of time before you start making awesome pictures yourselves.
Trivia: Do you know our brains can separately recognize about 12-16 images per second (max 24)? Anything more than that creates the illusion of motion
Some useful resources:
I use my mobile phone, a Canon 70D, 18-55mm lens, 75-300mm lens, and 650-1300 Mega Zoom lens (exceptionally rarely)
.
For those who write me about what device to buy:
In my humble opinion (IMHO), most of the time, it’s how we use the camera than what camera we use. This is not to down-play the high-end devices or your photography skill; but simply because of the technology we already have in any average device. Don’t believe? Check this picture. Can you guess what device I used?
This picture was taken with a Samsung Galaxy S7, a mere €800 mobile that I use for ‘n’ other purposes.
.
If you have a better device like Canon 5D Mark IV or Sony Alpha 7R, awesome. But before you empty your pockets on a new device, check if you are using what you already have - to its potential.
Photography is an ocean and there are lot of big whales out there. But I think these photographers do take some awesome snaps.

With Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook around… I guess every day is a special event. If you are interested in formal competitions and awesome pictures, here are some useful links:
