In the love and labour of life, most of us seem to have forgotten to give back to society, at least a share of what we took. Without receiving our contributions of any size, this richness of human life cannot sustain. This is my trivial attempt to promote ‘giving back to society’ in any form.

You’ll have my greatest respect if you are already contributing back to society in some ways or the other. Nonetheless, it’s never too late and I strongly encourage you to do so (you’ll see some useful links at the bottom of this page). If you just don’t have time for it, perhaps I can help.

Apart from volunteering, I do the following acts of giving back on a regular basis. These are mainly two types. Activities I continually engaged in, and the others I’m based on availability and need:
Continual
Best Technocrat Award
- Institution: KL University (where I did my bachelors)
- Year established: 2005 (on-going)
- Occurrence: Once a year
- Purpose: fixed monetary award to cover expenses of engineering college students
- Criteria:
- Academic record, Character, Contribution towards the development of fellow students and department (attendance is not included in the criteria)
- In case of equal achievement, following priority is observed:
- Differently abled
- Economically challenged
- Women
- Diversity in achievement areas (i.e. not just in sports, academics)
- In the event of no suitable candidate, award will be cumulated to the following year
Best outgoing student award
- Institution: Railway Mixed High School (where I did my schooling)
- Year established: 2005 – until decommissioning of school (alternate schools under consideration)
- Occurrence: Once a year
- Purpose: fixed monetary award to cover expenses of high school students
- Criteria:
- Academic record, character, diversity and leadership
- In case of equal achievement, following priority is observed:
- Differently abled
- Economically challenged
- Women
Swiss Red Cross
- Since: 2007
- Occurrence: Twice a year
- Criteria: Generally, in line with the focus themes (see Social awareness page). Historically, they’ve been in areas to support:
- Rescue and protection of displaced women and children across the world
- Medical aid to regions of conflict
- Services for betterment of senior citizens
- Water accessibility and hygiene programs in Africa
Wikimedia Foundation
- Since: 2011
- Occurrence: Quarterly
- Criteria/Rationale: If you reading this page, very likely you know Wikipedia. Wikimedia foundation sources all funds required to gather, organise, dissipate and promote free education to millions if not billions of knowledge seekers around the world
Impromptu
Intermittent events that we witness in the course of our day to day lives. e.g. Amazon Fires, Kerala Floods, Rohingya ethnical cleansing crisis, breakout of Zika virus, Arab spring orphans etc.
Any contributions towards above initiatives are dearly welcome. Also note, any acts of giving back for any initiative of your choice is equally welcome. All proceeds from this website will go to above contributions only. Anyone who becomes part of this ‘giving back to society’ family will get excerpts on where and how it was spent, and possibility to discuss future areas of focus.
